Normal Sandals have a high probability of breaking down over time. Too many parts overburden the manufacturing process and thus the cost. Due to the damaged pat, the sandal is usually thrown away which ends up in the landfill. Landfill waste is usually burnt eliminating harmul toxic gases in the atmosphere.

Midori recognizes the typical end-of-life journey of a sandal and aims to address it responsibly. With that in mind, we have proposed a solution that encourages customers to return their sandals to our facility for recycling.

Thanks to the sandal's modular design, when a part becomes damaged or wears out, the consumer can ship that specific part back to the company, and we will send a replacement part in return.

Our insoles and eyestays are made from algae biofoam, chosen for its crucial anti-microbial properties that eliminate 99% of odor-causing bacteria. We focused on using algae because, as temperatures rise, it thrives in water and can suffocate aquatic life.

The outsole is crafted from recycled tire rubber, offering the flexibility needed for all activities. By upcycling used tires and giving them a new purpose, we prevent them from ending up in landfills where they would emit harmful chemical gases over time.
